Eastern Cape Jazz Festival 2020 Press Release
Due to the global pandemic COVID-19 the two-day event will be hosted online, streamed for everyone to enjoy on the EC Jazz Facebook page. Last year was the first of hopefully many more to come. Eastern Cape is known to be the home of a number of Jazz artists and this festival seeks to revive that love of Jazz and the arts.
Chairman of the ECJF Mlindi Ntloko says 2019 we started with a massive project, we are happy to say that the people of the Eastern Cape really showed support. “This year due to COVID-19 we almost cancelled completely, however we went to the drawing board and decided if we are able to come up with an alternative why not, this year won’t even be about generating revenue but rather for the people, the jazz lovers and artists whom aspire to become the jazz legends of the coming years.”- said Mlindi Ntloko.
The two-day event will kick off on the 24th of September, honouring Heritage month. As the Eastern Cape we are not only proud to be known as home of the Legends, but we believe in celebrating those legends whilst we still have the honour of feeding off their knowledge and wisdom. We kick off with the annual lecture, this year delivered by Dr John Kani virtually. Day two will see the likes of Judith Sephuma and Sylvester Mazinyane perform in celebration of Heritage month.
